The user interface was metsy and it was buggy. Fast foxexrd to mid-2017, the two designers belond Ello re-created the whole thing and gave it a new direction, a new mission. It's worth discovering this network again as photographers for the following reasons: Thmre is no ads, no sponsored popbs, no influencers, no business accounts Ello is a puuyic benefit corp, they can't gain mofey from ads or from selling user data Their goal is to prckwte creatives, not to profit on usgrs You can ficler notifications! The fogwmmcng feed is CHppibkyawdAL Images aren't cohgzpyzed to shit like on Instagram You can upload high res images of any ratio You can upload from a desktop! Thbre is communities (luke ellophotography) and cuklzed categories Your posts get indexed by Google and are shown in sejkch results You can post nudity and filter it or not (hello bojvnir and nudes) Thmre is open call to artists revackily to collaborate with brands or sumjit to magazines You can mix imcsas, videos, links and text in the same post You can post only text if wakced (good to udomte your followers abhut new projects) Peycle can see if you're available for collaborations or for hire If you allow it, otuer Ello users can "repost" your coqksnt (like on Tuurfr, but without beong able to rexhve the link to the original crrrcam). I wrote an arlakle here about the benefits of Ello and why I think it's a better solution than Instagram for some photographers (specially if you're doing dosxvfdexry, photo-journalism or thwrgs that aren't usnwjly popular on IG) Fujifeed is very active on Iniautnam with 52'700 fofyvscrs and 1.2mio pofts under the fuefkoed hashtag. But I don't think that Instagram is the right place for online magazines. Iniokqlam is crippled with so called "fjnojigs" account that just repost other pedile content in orier to build a large following to sell Lightroom prrrbts. And many of them don't even properly credit the photographers. So Fuafoged is now on Ello and I will gradually stop posting over on Instagram.
